Reaping the Benefits of Homemade Beauty Treatments

While every woman wants to be beautiful, most don't think of homemade beauty treatments to achieve this look.

Watching the television commercials showing all the stars with their perfect skin and hair can be frustrating. Do people really look like that? Sure they do, if they pay thousands of dollars to have over-priced beauty products and makeup artists. But, what about the average woman? How can she get that look?

If you don’t have the budget of a movie star, you may think that beautiful skin and great looks are out of the question. Not so fast. While you may not be able to afford a tiny bottle of star-used facial cleansers for hundreds of dollars, you may be able to create a very similar concoction out of things that are already in your home.

Here's a look at some of the homemade beauty treatments you can use, instead of those high-priced star items.

Skin Cleansers: Are you looking for a smooth skin base? Buttermilk is a preferred skin cleanser. You can also use yogurt.

Skin masks: If you want to keep your skin healthy, you should keep an ample supply of plain yogurt or honey around the house. Either of these elements are great for the skin to soften it and keep it looking happy. You should put a thick layer of yogurt or honey on the skin, in a mask, and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then wash. For best results, Put a warm cloth on your face for a minute or two before applying the mask. This will open the pores in your skin and allow a better cleaning.

Skin Softening: After you shower or bathe, your skin will need a good moisturizer. A natural moisturizer is to use a small amount of almond oil on the skin. It will help keep moisture in, get your skin glowing and has a great smell.

Wrinkle Cream: When you think of bananas you may not think about getting rid of wrinkles, but one of the more popular homemade beauty treatments is a banana mash that is supposed to help remove wrinkles. Take a quarter to a half of a banana and mash it into a cream (for an extra health bonus, eat the rest of the banana). Spread the cream over your face. Rub it in, especially in areas with more wrinkles. Let it sit for 20 minutes then wash your face off.

Exfoliation: Create an oatmeal and baking soda combination that is two parts fine oatmeal to one part baking soda. Add just enough water to make it into a paste consistency. You should apply the paste to your skin and lightly rub it across the area. This rubbing motion will help remove dead skin cells and dirt from the skin. When you rinse your face, the dead skin will go with it, leaving your face feeling fresh and new.

While you could spend hundreds or even thousands in an attempt to keep up with the beauty treatments the stars are using, why not take a more affordable and natural path. Homemade beauty treatments are much less costly and much more friendly to your skin, since they are made of all-natural ingredients.
